Lovely People Check in was busy so we give extra credit to the friendly and patient way we were dealt with. The room was above standard in terms of size and had a lovely view of Galway Bay. A complimentary tray of treats left in our room and personalised to congratulate us on our wedding anniversary was a lovely surprise. The team at the Salthill Hotel made us feel very special. This a remarkable achievement in such a busy hotel. The Prom restaurant was very convenient and their two course deal was very tasty and great value. The excellent service continued at breakfast. Lovely people working at the Salthill Hotel.read moreread less - Rita A 10/01/2025
Wedding Celebration The Salthill Hotel is first class when it comes to celebrating a wedding. We had a very special day for our daughter's wedding. The Wedding coordinator, management team and all the staff were so nice. They all helped to make the day very happy and memorable. Thank You.read moreread lessStephen D 12/01/2025
Bitter sweet experience! This is a very bitter sweet review ! So let’s get into it ,
My parents and I decided to stay at the this property for Christmas availing of there 3 day inclusive package , which incorporated Christmas Eve , Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day (Boxing day) with all meals
We decided a few months before the holiday my parents decided to travel down the day before (23rd December) so they could have dinner with friends .
The 23rd came and my father had fallen ill and was unable to travel so it was decided that I would go and take over there reservation for that evening. When I arrived on the evening of the 23rd from my Mother and she said my father had gotten worse and would not be able to travel for which we had a doctors note .
so at this point it was decided I would stay as there was no point going to them . I informed the hotel immediately in case they could resell the room etc .
Now despite being alone I did meet some lovely people and my family came to see me and I went and saw them .
The food was amazing the staff were exceptional, the facilities were also brilliant.
When I was leaving I was informed that the reservation department would be in touch regarding my parent’s booking .
So on the 29th of December I was phoned by the reservations manager and informed that they would not be offering any compensation for my parent’s booking as it fell outside the T &C’s of the reservation!!
I completely understand this but I did feel very slighted that they would not even offer a voucher or anything! We had lost €1400 !!
This left a bad taste so will not be returning despite being on of my family’s

Relaxing stay ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had a fantastic stay at Salthill Hotel, Galway. The staff were absolutely excellent—friendly, welcoming, and very attentive throughout our visit.
The swimming pool, hydro pool, and sauna were wonderful and made the stay extra relaxing. Breakfast was truly 5-star, with great quality food and a beautiful sea view that made the morning even more special.
A special mention to Rudy on reception—he honestly couldn’t do enough for us and made us feel so welcome from start to finish.
We would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning again 😊read moreread lessExploration632762 1/01/2026
Wonderful overnight stay Wonderful overnight stay. Every member of staff from the time we went through the front doors, were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Outstanding meal in the Prom restaurant, honestly one of the nicest we have ever had. Gentleman who served was so lovely & knowledgable, everything was so relaxed & lovely. We were on the B&B Evening meal package which you would never know if you had our fabulous meal. Everything available to us from the menu, with €10 supplement for the steak. Best €10 ever spent. We have stayed here plenty of times before, always lovely but this time was the best.read moreread less - Ray F 10/01/2025
Two wonderful stays in the Salthill Hotel My wife and I had a 3-night stay in the Salthill Hotel during the Galway Comedy festival. We had chosen room only stay because we knew we would be in town all day each day visiting friends and our son who is in University of Galway. As below, it was our second time staying in the hotel this year and it was "top notch" again. While we had plenty of rain during our stay, we still got to do long walks on the prom and into town: when it was too wet there are a couple of bus stops close by which bring your straight into town with the result that we left the car parked up in the hotel car park for the entirety of our stay.
In July 2025, we had stayed in the Salthill hotel for 4 nights as a family of 6 plus my wife’s parents had joined us. It was my fifth time staying in the hotel but a first for everyone else. We were hosting a lunch on one of the days for a family group of 22. The weather was beautiful with a pleasant breeze most days, and to be fair having no rain was such a bonus for a stay in Galway. Having the prom and beaches across the road is such a cool part of the hotel's facilities. Our stay was excellent throughout: the rooms were spacious and really comfortable and some of us used the leisure centre every day that we were there. Food was very good, and we had breakfast in the hotel each morning. Staff were excellent and looked after us and our guests with a lovely atmosphere and old school hospitality and efficiency.read moreread less - MaureenOS 1/01/2026
Nice hotel, not vegan friendly. This is a beautiful hotel, lovely staff, gorgeous location and the worst food offerings for vegans in the city. They do have plant milks but no margarine. Unbelievable in this day and age that they couldn't get a tub of flora and stick it in the fridge.read moreread lessDenise 10/01/2025
Family holiday The hotel is fab lovely walk into the city or bus just outside the entrance if suits better. The rooms are lovely we were a family that needed 2 rooms and were accommodated with side by side rooms.
The food in the bar was fantastic on each of our nights, tiny bit slow but well worth the wait, breakfast also great with a lovely variety. Well worth a visitread moreread less - S.Edwards 8/17/2025
Comfy bed, warm room, lack of air con. But would stay again. We stayed for the night, on a short visit to Galway. On arrival, the car park seemed full, we eventually realised there was additional parking underground. Walked into the entrance foyer which we found to be bright, and welcoming. Check in was a breeze, and the reception staff where friendly, there was only one to start but as a que started forming more staff appeared to ensure people where checked in swiftly. Found the room to look a tad dated, but that a personal preference, however the room was clean, tidy and fairly well presented. There is some signs of age with the room. The down sides to the room. The lack of air con, which I suspect my have been down to the room grade, however fans where provided. There where a few signs of age: Wallpaper peeling behind the radiator. Black spots above the laps, probably caused from old incandescent bulbs, (LEDs are now fitted) Chips in the paintwork on the ceiling. There was a distinct lack of plug sockets in the room with there only being a double socket behind the TV, which did have both USB & USB c sockets, and a single socket in a corner near the ceiling. There was an extension lead installed behind the dressing table. Amenities provided: Hair dryer Iron & ironing board Empty Mini fridge Tea & coffee making facilities. Shower gel & shampoo Shower cap Grooming kit, with cotton wool buds, cotton pads and a nail file. Breakfast was lovely, hot food, for a full Irish, pastries, cereal, and even a selection of items off a menu. Over all the staff where polite and friendly. Unfortunately we did not get to use the pool, spa or gym facilities this time. Recommendations for the hotel: 1) install more plug sockets near the TV/ dressing table and near the bed. 2) Ditch the 13 amp extension lead. You provide 3 x 13 amp appliances and only an extension lead to plug into, if someone uses all three at once it could cause a the lead to over heat and start a fire. (Chances of someone using all three at once is slim, but why risk it?) 3) Leadership team should conduct room quality inspections to check for signs of wear and age. Doesn't have to be after every check out but periodically checking to ensure your rooms maintain a satisfactory level of appearance. 4) Better signage for the underground parking. All in all I would stay again, maybe just book a better room next time, for the air con 😅read moreread lessmervfair 1/01/2026
Lovely hotel but terrible breakfast service This hotel is perfectly located on salthill prom and close to bars and restaurants. Food and drinks in the bar were good. The room was comfortable but a bit small. Breakfast selection was good but service was terrible. Staff looked like they didn’t know what they were meant to do. Getting a pot of tea was a challenge to say the least. Loads of parking and free if booked direct with hotel. All in all a good hotel but staff training has a lot to be desired.read moreread lessNoreen F 9/01/2025
Wedding at Salthill Hotel! My daughter got married in Salthill Hotel Sept 2025. It was a destination wedding as we live in the US. The wedding was 265 people most of which traveled from the US. I cannot say enough about this hotel. (We stayed for a full week.) In fact I find it hard to write this review as there are so many things I want to say about the amazing experience we had from the beautiful ball room, food, and grounds to the amazing staff. If you are considering this hotel for your wedding do not look any further. You honestly would be hard pressed to find better.
A special thanks to Valerie who is the wedding manager. She is kind, smart, thoughtful, and thinks of every detail. She guided us before, during, and after the wedding. We honestly could never imagine pulling off a destination wedding of this size without her. Shane and Steven were always on hand during the wedding making sure everything was running smooth. They were full of good humor and always a smile when they greeted us. George the bar manager could not have been more attentive. He met with us before hand and helped us decide on signature drinks etc. He made sure there was plenty of bar staff on to handle such a big and young crowd coming from the states.
The meal served at the wedding was beyond excellent. The choice of menu was extensive and honestly was way beyond our expectations. The venue was stunning on Galway bay and made for gorgeous wedding photos.
I could go on and on but I will leave it with this hotel/wedding venue far exceeding our expectations and we will be forever thankful to the staff for all of their guidance and support. You truly could not find better people to work with.read moreread less
