Bitter sweet experience! This is a very bitter sweet review ! So let’s get into it , My parents and I decided to stay at the this property for Christmas availing of there 3 day inclusive package , which incorporated Christmas Eve , Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day (Boxing day) with all meals We decided a few months before the holiday my parents decided to travel down the day before (23rd December) so they could have dinner with friends . The 23rd came and my father had fallen ill and was unable to travel so it was decided that I would go and take over there reservation for that evening. When I arrived on the evening of the 23rd from my Mother and she said my father had gotten worse and would not be able to travel for which we had a doctors note . so at this point it was decided I would stay as there was no point going to them . I informed the hotel immediately in case they could resell the room etc .
Now despite being alone I did meet some lovely people and my family came to see me and I went and saw them . The food was amazing the staff were exceptional, the facilities were also brilliant.
When I was leaving I was informed that the reservation department would be in touch regarding my parent’s booking . So on the 29th of December I was phoned by the reservations manager and informed that they would not be offering any compensation for my parent’s booking as it fell outside the T &C’s of the reservation!!
I completely understand this but I did feel very slighted that they would not even offer a voucher or anything! We had lost €1400 !! This left a bad taste so will not be returning despite being on of my family’s Favourite hotels

Nice hotel, not vegan friendly. This is a beautiful hotel, lovely staff, gorgeous location and the worst food offerings for vegans in the city. They do have plant milks but no margarine. Unbelievable in this day and age that they couldn't get a tub of flora and stick it in the fridge.

Delicious Gluten-Free Fish & Chips at The Salthill Hotel in the Blackrock Bar I had an evening meal at The Salthill Hotel on Saturday evening and was really impressed. I ordered the gluten-free fish and chips, which were absolutely beautiful, perfectly cooked, crisp and light batter and wonderfully fresh fish. It was served with a lovely tartare sauce, fresh delicate side salad, chips, mushy peas and all of it combined really lifted the whole dish. Some good options for non-alcoholic wines and beers also.
It’s such a pleasure to find somewhere that takes care with quality gluten-free options and delivers food that’s both tasty and thoughtfully presented. The setting was calm and welcoming, with great service and a relaxed atmosphere, which was exactly what was needed for a leisurely evening meal at the seaside venue after a hard day's work.
A genuinely delicious meal and a place I’ll definitely be returning to. I highly recommend for anyone looking for quality, fresh food in Salthill.

Family holiday The hotel is fab lovely walk into the city or bus just outside the entrance if suits better. The rooms are lovely we were a family that needed 2 rooms and were accommodated with side by side rooms. The food in the bar was fantastic on each of our nights, tiny bit slow but well worth the wait, breakfast also great with a lovely variety. Well worth a visit

Couple night away My Husband & I stayed B& B on a sat night recently, we were early but we were checked in by a very efficient Lady called Peggy. She gave us all the relevant info for our stay , including buses to city centre. She was so friendly and helpful. Peggy is an asset as a front line staff . Our room wasn't ready so we went & waited in the bar . Peggy rang when room ready and our cases had already been brought to room. The Room was facing the sea, it was a very large room .we had double bed, big bathroom ,smart TV , bottled water. We didn't have dinner there as was booked for a restaurant . The breakfast next morning was great , there was plenty of choices . Hot &cold, Fruit, breads & pastries etc. There was music at night in bar. All staff were friendly . We would definitely return.

Magical Experience Salthill hotel went above and beyond for me and my fiance after we had been let down by Interflora on Valentines day. I had been in hospital after having a heart attack so arranged for Interflora to drop a dozen Rose's to my fiance but they never arrived after my fiance sat in all day waiting for them , only to receive an email on Sunday morning from Interflora to say they apologised for the inconvenience but they had experienced a very high demand for that time of year and had ran out of flowers and I would receive a refund with in 2 to 3 working days. I had booked the salthill hotel as part of my gift and so I rang them on Sunday morning to explain what had happened and would it be possible for them to upgrade our room or have flowers in the room or anything to make the stay more special all of which i would have no problem paying for. When we arrived we found we had been upgraded to a seafront suite with a very large red rose on the bed and a plate of pastries on the table which was all complimentary. To say my fiance was ecstatic is an understatement and it really made her feel special. I want to thank the Salthill Hotel from the bottom of my heart for doing this .

Birthday Surprise We arrived Friday 9th and was checked in by Eileen who upgraded us to sea views rooms as we were there to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday. We booked into the Prom restaurant for our evening meal and the food was exceptional and delicious. We had also booked the Prom for his birthday party the following evening and again the food was excellent. The staff was so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us there was 25 in the group we spent the rest of the evening in the bar. There was a good choice of breakfast on both mornings and nothing was too much trouble they also had a gluten free choice as well the rooms were clean warm and comfortable,I can honestly say that we will be back in the summer.

Myself and my husband Adrian got married in the Salthill Hotel in July 2025. After viewing a few other hotels, the minute we met with Valerie, we knew we weren’t going to be going anywhere else. From the second we met Valerie, she made us feel so welcome and really listened to what our wants for the day were. Her passion for her job shines through at every moment and we got the impression that she really cared about helping us, creating our perfect day. She went through so many things with us that day that we had not even thought about. Her experience in the field is unmatched, she almost doubled up as a wedding planner, keeping us on track at every step and ensuring we were hitting deadlines when we needed to.As well as being a complete and utter professional, above all, she is a genuinely kind and beautiful person. Weddings can be stressful enough to organise but one thing we never had to stress about, was how the salthill hotel would work and look on the day.We then met Stephen at our menu tasting and again, he made us feel so welcome and treated us so well! Stephen and Valerie compliment each other so well and make the perfect team. There is not one thing we can fault the Salthill Hotel on. There was plenty of food and drink at our reception, the service from all staff was brilliant, the food at the meal was exceptional and the place looked amazing.Without a doubt, Salthill Hotels biggest asset is having Valerie and Stephen! We could not recommend them enough and will never be able to thank them both for the role they played in ensuring we had the best day ever.Thank you both so much,Clare Ann and Adrian

Wonderful location, service and food! We had a wonderful overnight stay to celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday. This is our 3rd stay over in this wonderful hotel. The staff can't do enough for you and the location speaks for itself! There was an area put aside for us in the hotel bar for after dinner (food was fab) and then a lovely birthday plate in my Dad's room on arrival. We will certainly be back again!
